Impetuous Ritual- Relentless Execution Of Ceremonial Excrescence
Judging by the album title methinks some one owns a thesaurus. ahem.
Anywho, I've attempted to make this blog into something worth reading and have failed miserably every time. So i'm going to keep it simple. Each month I will chose an album that I love or catches my interest and write a short , to the point review. Not necessarily a new album. Maybe a old classic has wormed it way back into view. Who knows. anyways thats the premise . On with the entertainment.......
Ok ,Impetuous Ritual has the honour of not only being this months RECORD OF THE MONTH!!!!, But also the first RECORD OF THE MONTH!!!!. Congrats,Gents. So Impetuous Ritual hail from Australia and have in their membership two members of their fellow aussie dethsters, Portal. Which two? Nobody knows. And frankly I don't care. And would it make any difference? I think not. Impetuous Ritual play a dark, dank, evil brand of death metal. Taking cues from the mighty Incantation. Whom I love. I've been listening to alot of this "dark death metal" or "evil death metal" of late ; and just can't get enough. Incantation, Father Befouled, Vasaeleth and Impetuous Ritual. Soak it in echo and I'll love it. Impetuous Ritual does a good job at this. In fact they are far more cavernous in their sound then the other bands listed above. I frankly enjoy this more than Portal, because , though not simplistic, Impetuous Ritual are more straight forward and less chaotic than Portal. Which lends itself to repeat listens. This is a pretty cool death metal record that has atmosphere and character in spades. Something most recent death metal records lack with their clean, sterile, digitized productions; that sounds so cookie cutter it is a complete bored. Metal used to have atmosphere. Something that makes it heavier and more evil sounding than just heavy riffs. Most of that atmosphere is gone. Replaced by overly clean and sterile sounding record. Impetuous Ritual, on the other hand, could be playing Lady Gaga covers and it would sound like Satan belching. Which for the record is fucking EVIL.
